Titanium iron powder

brief introduction

Ferro Titanium Powder is a powdered form of ferro titanium alloy (e.g., FeTi70, FeTi40) produced by crushing, milling, or atomization. It retains the excellent properties of the master alloy and serves as an efficient titanium additive for final deoxidation and alloying in molten steel, as well as in welding electrode manufacturing and additive manufacturing.

3. Key Characteristics & Applications


  • Characteristics:

    • Fast Reaction Speed: Powder form increases reactive surface area, leading to faster dissolution and alloying in molten steel with more stable yield.

    • Homogeneous Composition: Ensures uniform distribution in molten steel or welding flux.

    • High Customization: Composition and particle size can be flexibly tailored to specific process needs.

  • Applications:

    • Steelmaking Additive: Used in Ladle Furnace (LF), Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) for deoxidation and fine alloying.

    • Welding Electrode/Flux: Serves as an alloying agent in electrode flux to transfer titanium to the weld metal, refining the microstructure and improving toughness.

    • Powder Metallurgy (PM): Used as a master alloy powder for manufacturing high-titanium steel or titanium alloy components.

    • Surface Engineering: Applied as a thermal spray material to create corrosion-resistant coatings.

    • Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Near-spherical atomized FeTi powder can be used in technologies like Selective Laser Melting (SLM) to fabricate components with special properties.


4. Packaging & Storage


  • Packaging:

    • Standard Sizes: Moisture-proof woven bags with inner plastic liner or jumbo bags.

    • Fine & Precision Powders: Vacuum-sealed, argon-filled aluminum foil bags or steel drums to prevent oxidation.

  • Storage: Must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Protect from moisture and oxidation. Stacking height should not exceed 5 layers.


5. Health & Safety


  • Flammability: WARNING: Fine and ultra-fine FeTi powder can form explosive mixtures with air. Keep away from ignition sources, heat, and static electricity. Explosion-proof measures must be taken.

  • Dust Inhalation: Avoid breathing dust. Use dust masks and ensure good ventilation in the working area.

  • General Handling: Wear safety glasses, protective gloves, and work clothes to prevent skin and eye contact with dust.
